Home Medical Equipment Costs & Pricing

When you’re trying to arrange medical equipment for yourself or someone you love, cost is naturally one of the first questions.

Prosperity Health helps individuals, families, and caregivers understand the cost of home medical equipment before making a decision.

Payment Options

Prosperity Health is a self-pay home medical equipment provider. Equipment rentals, purchases, and applicable services are paid directly to Prosperity Health rather than billed through Medicare or private insurance.

Available payment methods include major credit cards, bank checks, cash, and other accepted direct-payment methods. Contact us if you have a question about payment for a particular order.

Prosperity Health does not currently offer traditional equipment financing or insurance billing. If purchasing equipment isn't the right fit for your budget or expected length of use, rental options may be available for certain equipment.

What Affects the Cost of Home Medical Equipment?

The final cost of medical equipment depends on several practical factors.

Equipment Type

Different types of equipment have very different price ranges.

A hospital bed, lift chair, mobility scooter, power wheelchair, ramp, stair lift, oxygen concentrator, or CPAP machine all involve different equipment, installation, accessories, and service requirements.

Features & Functionality

More advanced features can increase cost.

Examples may include:

  • Powered positioning

  • Higher weight capacities

  • Premium upholstery

  • Zero Gravity or specialty positioning

  • Portable or foldable designs

  • Longer battery range

  • Custom stair-lift rails

  • Modular ramp configurations

  • Specialty mattresses

  • Additional accessories

Brand & Build Quality

Equipment from established manufacturers may cost more than lower-priced alternatives, but brand, durability, warranty coverage, and serviceability can all matter when comparing options.

Rental vs. Purchase

Renting vs. Buying: Which Is More Cost-Effective?

There isn’t one answer that works for every situation.

Renting May Be More Practical When:

  • The equipment is needed temporarily

  • Recovery is expected to be short-term

  • A loved one is transitioning home from the hospital or rehab

  • Care needs may change

Power Wheelchair & Mobility Scooter Costs

Powered mobility equipment varies based on portability, battery capacity, size, controls, drive configuration, comfort, and intended use.

Pricing may differ between:

  • Compact power wheelchairs

  • Foldable or travel models

  • Full-size power wheelchairs

  • 3-wheel mobility scooters

  • 4-wheel mobility scooters

Wheelchair Ramp Costs

Ramp pricing depends heavily on the home itself.

Important factors may include:

  • Vertical rise

  • Ramp length

  • Straight vs. custom configuration

  • Number of platforms or turns

  • Modular vs. portable design

  • Rental vs. purchase

  • Installation requirements

A simple threshold ramp is very different from a larger modular ramp system built around a porch or multi-step entrance.

Prosperity Health can help evaluate the setup and provide a quote based on the actual home.

Stair Lift Costs

Stair lift pricing varies based largely on the staircase and the type of lift.

Straight stair lifts are generally simpler than curved systems because curved lifts require a custom rail built around the staircase.

Cost factors may include:

  • Straight vs. curved staircase

  • Number of turns or landings

  • Indoor vs. outdoor use

  • Seat options

  • Weight capacity

  • Powered features

  • Custom rail requirements

  • Installation

Because stair lifts are installed to fit the home, the best way to understand cost is to evaluate the staircase first.

Oxygen & CPAP Equipment Costs

Pricing for oxygen and CPAP equipment depends on the machine, features, prescription requirements, accessories, and replacement supply needs.

Cost may vary between:

  • Stationary oxygen concentrators

  • Portable oxygen concentrators

  • CPAP machines

  • BiPAP machines

  • Masks

Frequently Asked Questions About Medical Equipment Pricing

Why doesn’t every product have one fixed price?

Medical equipment pricing varies by model, features, accessories, rental period, delivery requirements, installation, and other factors. A quote based on the complete setup is often more useful than a generic starting price.

Is renting always cheaper than buying?

Not necessarily. Renting may be more affordable for short-term use, while purchasing may become more economical when equipment is needed for a longer period.

Does delivery cost extra?

Delivery and setup charges vary depending on the equipment and service. We’ll explain what is included in your quote before you decide.

Does insurance or Medicare pay for home medical equipment?

Coverage varies by plan, equipment, medical necessity, supplier requirements, and other factors. Prosperity Health is currently self-pay only, so specific insurance or Medicare benefits should be confirmed directly with the applicable plan.

Can you tell me the total cost before I order?

Yes. Once we understand the equipment, accessories, rental or purchase arrangement, and delivery requirements, we can provide a clearer breakdown of the applicable costs.
